Creative Grounds Fine Arts Academy is proud to announce our 2023 Holiday Programming. This year we are carrying on several "traditions".

Living Windows

Our living windows will be returning this year. Starting on Black Friday and continuing on weekends through the 9th.We're giving our students the ability to practice their improvisation skills while providing entertainment to shoppers entering the mall.

While shopping for Christmas this year, be sure to stop by and interact with our young actors.

Celebration of The Arts

Join us on November 25 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM for our Christmas Arts Vendor and Craft Fair at Studio One. We will be hosting local vendors, enjoying music, showcasing our Living Windows (other character visits possible).

No door admission for patrons shoppers and guests and a low table rate for vendors(limited booth space still available).

Polar Express: Parent's Night Out

Need to get some surprise Christmas Shopping in? Need an adult's night out? Have your child age 4 through 12 to our polar express hang out with us on December 9th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.

Kids will enjoy snacks, crafts and a movie! The Cost $10/child with a $50/Family Maximum. Space is limited and pre-registration is encouraged. Walk-ins on a space permitting first-come, first served basis.

Saturday, March 4th, Creative Grounds Fine Arts Academy will be having its annual fundraising gala for 2023: A Night on Broadway: Once Upon A Time. The Sycamore at Mallow Run will again be hosting the event with Smokehouse Catering Company Providing the meal for the evening. Enjoy as our hosts Terry Waggoner and Todd Ferris take us on a night of stories, performances, love, and dreams as we help Creative Grounds celebrate another year. Attire is business formal: black-tie optional.

Seating is round tables of seven-ten people at each table. Purchasing a Table=8 Seats. If you have a seating request (i.e. “we would like to be seated with the Miller Party”), please add that request in the “Additional Information/Order Notes” section

Auction

Our online auction is a great way to support the Creative Grounds Fine Arts Academy. You can bid using the website or the Auctria Mobile App. Unable to attend the gala? No problem! You can still participate in the online auction.

The online auction will begin on February 24th, 2023, and will end during the gala on March 4, 2023. You can pre-register as a bidder now and see some of the items up for auction.

Winning bidders can pick up their items at the gala. If not attending, arrangements will be made with the winning bidder to receive their items. Creative Grounds will NOT ship items. Any costs related to shipping will be the responsibility of the winning bidder.

Classes – Spring session 2

We are excited to continue to offer classes in our new space, Studio One – at the Greenwood Park Mall.  Below you’ll find the class offerings. Please note the following schedule:

  • All Classes will begin the week of April 5, 2021. 
  • All Classes will take Les Mis Tech Week off, the week of April 26. 
  • Thursday Classes will meet on Tuesday the week of May 3.
  • Monday Classes will meet on Tuesday June 1 due to Memorial Day
  • All Classes will present a Showcase on June 4 at 7:00.

What does it mean to be A Kids Production?

This is a shortened version of the full production and shorter than the Jr. productions we have done in the past. This production adjusts language and situations to be appropriate for a “school audiences” to watch and/or perform it and reduces the total production to approximately 30 minutes in length.

Rehearsal & Performance details

Rehearsals will be Tuesdays 7-8:30 and Saturday 9-11. See rehearsal schedule calendar below.

Performances & Rehearsals will be held at Creative Grounds Fine Arts Academy Studio One – at the Greenwood Park Mall

Performances will be held in person, and streamed online if needed.

Performance dates are set for March 25-27.

These productions could be double cast based on talent availability and potentially the whole cast could be split based on number of students who audition.  This production is open to students ages 7-12 ONLY.

Production & Audition Fees

Audition Fees are $25 per student. The audition fee is applied to your total Production Fee of $175 which makes the remaining balance $150.  Production fees may be paid in payments split over 6 weeks, but must be paid in full before Tech Week begins.  Audition fees are non-transferrable and not refundable. Limited number of scholarships are available for the production. Please contact Mark Landis to receive the application for Scholarship.

Students are only called for rehearsal when they are needed and will not be called for the entire rehearsal unless needed.  Pizza will NOT be available on Friday.

Saturdays, any student that is called and might need to eat will be encouraged to bring a sack lunch or snack.

Auditions

Auditioning for Jungle Book Kids will be different than our “normal” so that we can begin rehearsals sooner.  Students must submit their one minute song or monologue video via email or Google Drive by no later than January 31st at 12:00PM (noon).  Audition paperwork will also be required to be filled out, no later than January 31st at noon.  A separate email with further details for how to submit your video and a link to the online audition paperwork will be sent by January 22nd to all who have signed up to audition and every 2 days after the 22nd.

As part of their video submission students should have the following on the video:

  • Student name
  • Student age
  • Any specific role you’d like, and/or that you’d accept any role
  • What you’ll be singing/doing for us
  • Do you have any special talents we should know? -BRIEFLY describe these talents
  • Your one minute song or monologue
  • SMILE!!

The Show Must Go ONLINE

We are super excited about this opportunity.  We know that a LOT of kids are wanting to perform and keep doing what they LOVE, so…we’ve purchased the rights to do this show!

This show will NOT have an audition process, however we will limit the number of people who play each character.  Some are singing roles, others are not. Choose what you feel best fits YOU, but choose wisely.  It is possible that you may be asked to switch to a different role based on needs!

We are looking forward to seeing this Show come together…ONLINE!

Students will be sent the information for this show and the ‘rehearsal’ process will begin on 4/20. We with the whole show completed by 5/1. All performers must be off-book with their entire monologue/and song memorized when they record and submit their scene for the first “rehearsal” for that scene. Scenes are each between 30 seconds and 2 minutes in length.  Students will be sent instructions on how to submit their video recordings.

Curtains – A Community Theatre Production

We hope to begin in person rehearsals in May. We will begin virtual rehearsals of characterization and lines prior to May 1, as per our calendar. 

Rehearsals will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 6:30-9:00 in person beginning May 6. 

Rehearsals will take place at Southland Community Church or online, based on availability of space and CDC recommendations.

Performances location is TBA, Dates are scheduled for June 25-28

Full Rehearsal Schedule – on our calendar here.  This is ESTIMATED and may adjust based on cast needs for learning blocking and music.

Fees

We are a non-profit. Our student productions have a fee structure of $175 including their audition fee. For our Community Theatre production we have a slightly different structure due to less costs associated with the performance. We do not charge an audition fee and only charge $125 for the production. You can choose to raise sponsorships for the show totaling the amount of $250 and your production fee is waived. If you have a financial need and cannot afford the production fee, please email Mark Landis at mark@cgfinearts.org to receive our Financial Aide information.

Costumes

Costumes are provided wherever possible, but we will ask you provide materials such as pants and shoes that you own or can be found at Goodwill.

Be The Story – Summer Camps 2021

The 2021 Summer Camp season is here! We’re super excited to announce the camps this year. We know you’ll find a place to plug in, so check them out. Some new camps and some new age brackets to help students get the most of out the camps we offer.

Twisted Stories – Be The Story Summer Camp 2021

This camp will be specifically designed for beginning actors/actresses ages 5-10. This camp will focus on music and dramatic excerpts from Seussical, The Grinch and other Dr. Seuss works. The week will culminate with a showcase on Friday June 18 at 4:30.

History Stories – Be the Story Summer Camp 2021

This Full Day Camp will take focus on working on historical based musical theater such as Newsies, Hamilton, Annie, Get Your Gun, and Les Miserables. This Music Intensive week will focus on vocal skills, characterization and script writing “Our Own Stories.” The camp will conclude with a weekend showcase of Student’s original scripts with the musical numbers learned throughout the week. Performances will be held on Saturday, based on enrollment in the camp, either one (6:30) or two times (1:00 & 6:30).

Stories Diner – Be the Story Summer Camp 2021

A murder has happened at the Diner, the staff works with the audience to solve the mystery. This dinner theater will feature music from the 1980’s. This week features an original script by our own staff and focuses on improvisation skills. The goal would be able to perform this in our community for other organizations, as COVID restrictions allow. Performances will be held on Saturday, based on enrollment in the camp, either one (6:30) or two times (1:00 & 6:30)

Adventure Stories – Be The Story Summer Camp 2021

5-15 years of age AND 16 and older

Monday Through Friday 9:30-12:30 – Kids 5-18
Showcase Friday at 4:30

This half day camp is being offered to those ages 5-18. This mixed ages group camp is great for siblings that would like to attend camp together and those brand new! This will feature a showcase of music and drama at the end of the week. Aladdin, Jungle Book, Peter Pan and more.
